Anthem for Baby

from Always There
Originally titled "Antha's Anthem", "Anthem For Baby" was inspired by the birth of our daughter, Samantha. There are a few versions of this song...one that will be just for Samantha and her kiddos, and this published version to pay tribute to all new parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles for there is just no feeling quite like holding a new baby for the first time. It is love at first sight and lasts forever.
LYRICS
We heard your music rolling in on the west wind
we tried to dance but we were too nervous
then came your voice wildly singing and searching
and your mama found you

She said baby you're awake now
don't go back to bed

Open your little hands and then hold them and mine
and I'll warm your tiny little fingers

Close your deep blue eyes and then bury your face
in my chest to listen to my heartbeat

The sound that you hear in there is my undying love
and it's yours my darling dear forever
long after our time beneath the sun

so many people who love you
and they all want to know you they all want to hold you

darling this is your big brother
he just wants to squeeze you
and show you your new room

he says baby you're awake now don't go back to bed

Open your little hands and then hold them and mine
and I'll warm your tiny little fingers

Close your deep blue eyes and then bury your face
in my chest to listen to my heartbeat

The sound that you hear in there is my undying love
and it's yours my darling dear forever
long after our time beneath the sun
